Pooler-Mrs. Clyde G. Chapman, 89, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Mrs. Clyde was born in Eldora to the late William & Beatrice Greene. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Chapman, and a sister, Cornelia Burnsed. She was a member of Pooler First Baptist Church since 1931, and had sang in the choir over 57 years. She enjoyed gardening, and flowers. She had a great love for her family, friends, the church, and especially the Lord. "I sing of the mercies of the Lord Forever" Psalm 89.1.
She and her husband of 70 years, Theron C. Chapman, Sr., were married on September 2, 1945 (VJ Day). Also surviving are her son, Theron C. Chapman, Jr., and his wife, Mary Jo; daughter-in-law, Sandra D. Chapman; grandchildren, Angela Kerby (Frankie), Jennifer Chapman, Melisa Fennell (Will), James Chapman, and Nicholas Chapman (Nicole); great-grandchildren, Matty Kerby, Sarah Kerby, and Keira Fennell; sisters, Patricia George, and Elizabeth Urban, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Newton Cemetery.
