Dakota Andrew Scott was unexpectedly called home to the Lord on June 28th, 2024.  Dakota was born in Savannah on July 26th, 1997, and passed away a few weeks before his 27th birthday.  Dakota was a native son of Meldrim, Georgia, and a festive light for family and friends.  He loved the outdoors, spending countless hours in the woods or on the water, hunting, fishing, or just being the life of the party anywhere he was. Dakota's personality drew in everyone he encountered; funny, kind, and empathetic to friends and strangers alike.  He was particularly close to his family, making relatives young and old smile and laugh at formal occasions as well as around the kitchen table on a random weekday.  Dakota had time for everyone, whether to lend a helping hand, a sympathetic ear, or an infectious grin.  He proudly achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

Dakota is survived by his mother Tina Michele Andrews, father Danny Ray Scott, beloved brother Dalton Taylor Scott, and many other family members who will miss him greatly.  Dakota was also blessed with an array of friends from all walks of life; their lives are a little dimmer with his passing.  But all can take heart that Dakota is most likely sitting at a beautiful table in Heaven, playing a fierce game of Rummy with his beloved Poppy.

The visitation will be on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The service to honor Dakota's life will be on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim, Georgia.
