Springfield – Dallas E. Exley, 80, passed away April 3, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

The Effingham County native served in the Army National Guard and was a retired owner/operator of Exley Wood Floors.  He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on church council, as Sunday School treasurer, and a member of the property committee.  He loved farming and tending to his animals and playing in the "Setback" Club after retiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chancy and Myrtie Wilson Exley; and nephew, Trey Sheley.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Joan P. Exley; sisters, Alice Sheley (John) and Louise Riner (Stan); step-children, Victoria Armstrong (Todd) and George Vachon; grandchildren, Brittany Bevill, Hailey Chavis (Ethan), Ty Armstrong, Seth Vachon, Nathan Vachon, and Joe Vachon; nephew, Chan Sheley (Ginger); nieces, Gwinea Burns (Steve) and Kimberly Rahn; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2023 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
