IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel Matthew
And Connie Messex Babcock
November 22, 2024
Daniel Matthew Babcock, 71, and Connie Messex Babcock, 68, moved from their earthly home to their heavenly home on November 22, 2024. Daniel was born in Claxton, Georgia on March 28, 1953. He spent his early years in Evans County,Georgia under the care of both his mother and his maternal grandparents, learning to work diligently and with excellence. Daniel was a machinist by trade, but Mr. Fix Anything to his children.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Holland Babcock Boyles, brother Lee L. Boyles, and sister Mary Elizabeth Boyles. He is survived by his brothers Thomas Irving Babcock, III and Joseph Babcock and his sister Susan (Larry) Taylor. Connie Messex Babcock was born in Newport News, VA on November 16, 1956, and moved with her family to Savannah, GA shortly after. Connie enjoyed her time as a restaurant owner before working for many years as an office manager, but the vocation of which she was most proud was that of a wife and mother. Connie was preceded in death by her father Robert Messex, mother Nedra Messex, brother Edwin Messex, sister Betty Faye Lincoln, sister-in-law Linda Messex, and brother-in-law Edwin Stokes. She is survived by her sister Pat (Stewart) Smith, sister Frances Stokes, and brother Terry (Mary) Messex. Daniel and Connie married in 1975, and their family grew to include 7 children, 19 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. They are lovingly remembered by their children: Bryan (Melanie) Babcock, Dedra (Leon) McBride, Rebecca (Robert) Floyd, Rachel (Will) Crosby, Michael (Sheila) Babcock, and Thomas Robert (Casey) Babcock. Their presence will be deeply missed by the many nieces and nephews they cherished, and their church family at Bloomingdale Fellowship Church will mourn the loss of two faithful members. Daniel and Connie's greatest desire was to honor the Lord by loving their family and helping others. If one needed a place to sleep, a meal to eat, financial help, or a hand to hold, they provided it. The generosity and charity they displayed is the legacy they leave behind. The visitation will be held at Thomas Strickland Funeral Home on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral to honor Daniel and Connie's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Community Bible Church located at 1112 East 69th Street in Savannah.
