Guyton – Rev. Darnell Barner, 66, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

The Effingham County native was the pastor of First Baptist Church of Blitchton. He had preached, which he loved and was always prepared, for over 40 years in several churches. Bro. Darnell loved his family and especially loved watching his grandsons play sports. He was preceded in death by his father, John William Barner.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Glynda Hall Barner; daughter, Holly Burney (David); grandchildren, Connor, Brayden, David William, and Zachary Sterling; his mother, Carletta Barner; brother, Allen Barner (Samantha); and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 11 am – 12 noon Monday, February 6, 2023 in the funeral home.

Funeral: 12 noon Monday, February 6, 2023 in the funeral home chapel.

Interment: Effingham Memorial Gardens

Remembrance: American Diabetes Association.
