Mr. David "Bobby" A. Carter, Sr.

Savannah-Mr. David "Bobby" A. Carter, Sr., 75, died on Monday, October 8, 2007 at
Hospice Savannah.
The Chatham County native was a member of the Savannah High School graduating class
of 1951. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Hall Carter and his wife,
Gail Thigpen Carter. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and the 165th
Air National Guard. He was a 50 year member of the Landrum Lodge #48 F&AM, a 50
year member of Scottish Rite Freemasonry and a 50 year member of the Alee Temple
Shriners. He was a member of the Commercial High Cobra Club and he retired from the
railroad. He was a former member of the Olde Timers Softball Club, Ham Radio Club
(call sign WA4VHP) and the Amateur Radio Club.
Survivors include his children, David A. Carter, Jr. of Savannah, Bobby Z. & Tina Carter
of Ellabell, Joel T. & Cheri Carter of Atlanta and Elizabeth & Jerry Kappa of
Bloomingdale; six grandchildren; brother, Alvin B. Carter, Jr. & Louise of Savannah;
sisters, Jean "MeMe" Vaughn and Judy Carter Quinan & William, all of Savannah and a
number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Graveside Funeral: 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Greenwich Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers
will be members of the Olde Timers Softball Club.
The family will be gathering at the Johnny Harris Restaurant Banquet Room
following the service to accept friends.
