David Alan Bledsoe, 72, of Midway, GA, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2022, at home. He was preceded in death by his father, Neal Bledsoe, Sr., mother, Evelyn Mims Bledsoe, and brothers, Kenny Bledsoe and Bill Bledsoe. Survivors include his wife, Cathy Joyner Bledsoe; brothers, John Bledsoe and Neal Bledsoe, Jr.; son, Beau Bledsoe (Jenifer); daughter, Brooke Sapp (Walter), and 3 beloved grandchildren, Kasey, Lucy, and Mary. David was a native of Houston, TX. At age 12 he moved with his parents and 4 brothers to Dunwoody, GA, near Atlanta, where he played football at Dunwoody High School and later met Cathy. After a short 3 month engagement, in 1976, they were married and moved to Savannah, then Bloomingdale, in 1983 to help his in-laws, Clyde and Camille Joyner run their convenience store/bait shop, Joyner's Corner. It was here that his kids were raised, countless friends were made, and many days were spent fishing in the Ogeechee river. In 2004, David and Cathy moved to their forever home on the Half Moon river, Colonels Island, in Midway, GA. Besides fishing and boating, David enjoyed golf, playing the piano, spending time with family and friends, and lately, sitting on the porch watching the river flow. David was a member of the Masonic Lodge for many years and attended Compassion Christian Church.
The memorial service to honor David's life will be at 12 noon on Thursday, May 12, 2022 in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home - WEST CHATHAM CHAPEL - 901 W. Hwy. 80 in Pooler, GA.
