David Alan DeWitt passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 11, 1955 in Savannah but Pooler was his home. He was the son of LeRoy Edward DeWitt, Sr. and Catherine Boxxe DeWitt. He had the love of Jesus in his heart and was saved by grace. With a sweet and kind spirit he loved everyone and never met a stranger.
His passion was gospel music. He was a member of several gospel groups but most notable was the Kingdomaire Revival where he sang tenor for 26 years. He made beautiful music on the piano and played for several churches during his adult years sharing his special God-given talent with everyone.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Edward DeWitt, Sr., sister, Linda DeWitt Lewis, his brother-in-law, R. Ellis Bland, and great-nephew, Kason Wade DeWitt.
He is survived by his mother, Catherine Boxxe DeWitt, the loves of his life, his two daughters, Kellianna DeWitt Pounds (Kevin) and Dacey Lee DeWitt; three grandchildren, Braydyn Louie, Trystyn Hutcheson, and David Ray (Dray) DeWitt, and grandson-in-love, Blaine Pounds; sister, JoAnn DeWitt Bland; brother, Roy E. DeWitt, Jr. (Wadelle); many special nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, all of whom he loved so very much. David will certainly be missed by his family and friends.
A special thanks to Kelly McAfee, Jene’ Turner, Helen Gooddine, Tyler Welch, Lonnie Johnson, Chaplain and Carlos Wright, Chaplain with Regency Southern Care Hospice.
The visitation will be on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at the funeral home. The funeral to honor David’s life will follow at 12 noon in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
