David E. Smith

Mr. David E. Smith, 81, of Garden City, Georgia, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at his home.

David will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Diane Smith; children, David M. Smith (Stephanie), Tim Smith (Melanie), and Kimberly Jackson (Mike); grandchildren, Ashley Wright (Halen), Anna Nowicki (Joe), and Brennen Barnard; sister, Norma Hammon, as well as several nieces and nephews.

David was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and had lived in Garden City for 61 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Denman Smith and Wanda Bird VanSweden; his brother and sister-in-law, Norm and Geri Smith, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Lena Rowe. He served his country in the United States Air Force, had been employed at Gulfstream for a number of years, and retired from Wigly’s Cabinet Shop.

The family will honor David’s life with a private memorial service.
