Pooler-Mr. David H. Hicks, 70, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at his home.
David was born in Brunswick to the late Claude & Jessie Hicks. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles (Janice)Hicks. He served in the National Guard, was a former Chatham County Policeman, crime scene specialist, served as Bloomingdale's first Police Chief, and retired from Gulfstream. He had his private pilot's license, loved to fly, and loved NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty Culver Hicks; children, Jim (Sherri) Hicks, Rob (Carie) Hicks, and Kristy Kerby; grand-children, Olivia, Parker, Zach, Lamanda, Callie, and Miya; two great-grandchildren; brother, Sidney (Alethea) Hicks; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.
The visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Monday with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Newton Cemetery in Pooler.
