David Hood, 81, of Pooler, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, 2020, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in Bulloch County on August 25, 1939 to parents, Ervin & Irene Hood. He worked with Kroger as a maintenance mechanic until 1995, when he had to take a medical retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Mary Balzert.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nettie Hood; two sons, David L. of Indian Trail, NC, and Glenn of Pooler; three grandchildren, Ashley Stephen Hood, Garrett Hood and Kendall Bechtel; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerome Hood; two sisters, Myra Hood and Julieta Hood.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, November 4 th from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. All CDC and social distancing guidelines will be in effect, including the wearing of masks (Chatham County Mandate). The graveside funeral and burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Bulloch Memorial Gardens located at 22002 U.S. Hwy. 80 E. in Statesboro. Rev. Bryan Parrish will officiate. The pallbearers will be Freddie Brinson, Braxton Brinson, Danny Brinson, Stacy Brinson, Joseph Mann, and Royce Hendry.
