Mr. David Roy Tyler, Sr., 89, of Bloomingdale, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
David was born on September 6, 1935. He was the middle son of Ruth and Bert Tyler. Arthur Ray Tyler was the first son and Bert Richard Tyler, Jr. was the last son. Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his older brother Arthur and his first son, David Tyler, Jr.
David loved the Isle of Hope where he spent his first boyhood days. He married his wife, Joyce, on August 10, 1963. He and Joyce spent their first years in Savannah. He worked at Savannah City Hall, Great Dane Trailers for over 25 years, and was a landlord to many tenants. He was the father to two boys, David, Jr. and Michael (Mike). He had one grandson, Matthew Alton Tyler. David was so proud that all three boys were Eagle Scouts.
David was highly intelligent and had 8 years in the Navy. He graduated from Armstrong College, attended Georgia Tech, and was a wonderful husband to Joyce. He was a jack-of-all trades and could fix or repair almost anything. He was a very hard worker.
David will always be remembered as a wonderful person and will be missed by his family and friends. He and his wife attended St. Thomas Episcopal Church at Isle of Hope, and later, attended The Midway United Methodist Church and Alpha United Methodist Church in Bloomingdale.
The visitation will be on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral to honor David's life will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
