Debbie Lee Derryberry

Debbie would like to let you know that her work here on earth is done. She received a call of the sort you cannot refuse for an appointment from which she will not be returning to us. This assignment comes with a huge sign on bonus: a reunion with the Lord alongside her family and friends, which she has not seen in a long time.

Debbie Lee Derryberry born on July 8, 1957 and went into the arms of her heavenly father on May 10, 2018, after complications from surgery. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend. She is and will be deeply missed.

Debbie spent her life in service of others. She was a paramedic in Georgia and Colorado for 25 years before starting a new career as a hair stylist, after the closing of Chatham County EMS. She worked at, then owned Color Works Salon in Springfield before managing the Smart Styles Hair Salon in Rincon where her first love was cutting children's hair.

Debbie is survived by her husband, James, who was the love her life, soul mate and best friend. She is also survived by her beloved daughter Kara Henry and her husband Jessie. Also, by her daughter April, and her sisters Deanna Swallow and Shelly Bruning.

There will be a celebration of her life at the Thomas Strickland Funeral Home in Springfield on Thursday, May 17, 2018, with visitation from 6-7 pm and memorial service to follow at 7 pm.
