Obituary

Pooler-Mr. Delmo Cannady, "Shag", 78, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012 on the farm that he loved.
A native of Emanuel County, he had lived in Pooler for the past 50 years. He was a retired Teamster from Local 728 and a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was also a founding member of the Pooler Recreation Ball Park. Delmo was preceded in death by his parents, R.M. "Medie" and Frances Cannady; a daughter, Connie Gail Cannady; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Vivian Cannady; son, Stevie (Sharon) Cannady; 2 daughters, Sherry Williams and Lisa (Dannie) Barras; 5 grandchildren, Ashley (Joshua) Beam, Joseph Barras, Christen Cannady, Calley (Ricky) Duncan, and Taylor Cannady; 2 great-grandsons, Mason Duncan (aka Jeremiah Johnson), John Ashley Beam and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012 at the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Mr. Cannady's life was at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Pooler with Rev. Otis Hill officiating and Mrs. Ashley Beam offering a Eulogy. Mrs. Cherry Kelly and Mr. Louie Winskie provided the music. Active Pallbearers were Joey Griffin, Kenny Boyette, Keith Boyette, Ricky Duncan, Joseph Barras and Jim Brindley. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Harvesters Sunday School Class. The graveside funeral and burial followed at 4 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Rowe officiating.
