Denise Sutton Klesick

Pooler- Denise Sutton Klesick, 60, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at her home.

She was born in Jesup, GA and was preceded in death by her father, Donald Sutton and her grandmother, Bernice Sutton Stutts.  Denise was a teacher of students with intellectual disabilities at Johnson High, Savannah High and Windsor Forest High Schools and became a Transition Specialist to assist all students with disabilities to move from high school to beyond.  She served in that position at Groves High and Islands High Schools before her retirement.  She was a beloved teacher to her students and their parents and held in high esteem by the school staffs with which she worked.  She was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.  This is an honor society for outstanding women educators.  Denise, in addition to holding most of the chapter offices, served her local Alpha Tau Chapter twice as President.  Because of her outstanding leadership skills, she also served the GA state organization as Chairperson of several important committees, as Sixth District Director and as Editor of the Psi State News.  Denise was named by the organization as a Key Woman Educator and by the GA state organization as a Forward Mover-Forward Thinker.  She was a 20-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She is survived by her husband, Don Klesick; daughter, Samantha & Russell Swinger; son, Emory Klesick; mother, LoAnne Lane; sister, Donna & Eddie Parson; brother, Tony & Starla Sutton; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 20 ^th at the funeral home from 10 until 11 a.m. with the Celebration of Denise's life to follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home located at 901 W. Hwy. 80 in Pooler.
