On Sunday, January 24th, 2021, Denise Pevey, loving daughter, sister, aunt, & friend, passed away at the age of 58, at home.

Denise, born June 26, 1962 to Adrian and Rachel Pevey of Guyton, GA was a lifelong Guyton resident and member of Guyton Christian Church. Adrian Pevey, her loving father, passed January 2, 2003 at the age of 68.

Denise graduated from Effingham High School in 1980 and pursued her education degree at Georgia Southern University. She graduated with her bachelors degree in 1984 and received her masters degree shortly after, in 1986.

Denise taught for more than thirty years before retiring and becoming a substitute teacher for her beloved Gould Elementary School in Chatham County. She touched the hearts of many children. Though she didn't have any of her own, her students, and her nieces and nephew, Allisa Alexander, Brittany Chapman, & Nick Pevey, were all "her children".

She was a passionate animal lover, often pet sitting for friends and family as well as rescuing strays. No animal went without if she was aware. She loved classic rock, spending time with family, and all things purple.

Denise loved foxes, gardening, visiting friends and family, and spreading her contagious laughter wherever she could. Her personality was of a thoughtful, loving nature. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her mother, Rachel Pevey of Guyton, her brother and his wife, Michael and Angela Pevey of Guyton, her nieces and nephew, and three great nieces and two great nephews, as well as aunts and cousins and other extended family.

Her funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday January 30, 2021 at Guyton Cemetery.

Rev. Lainie Jenkins will be officiating her service.
