Dennis James Atkinson, Sr., 57, of Ellabell, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Dennis was born in Savannah, Georgia and was preceded in death by his mother, Penny Toole.  He was a "Born Again Christian" and had formerly attended Temple Baptist Church in Savannah.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.  He was a hard worker and always a provider for his family.  He was a plumber/pipe fitter/welder with Local 188.  He was a graduate of DeRenne Christian Academy.  His claim to fame was going to high school and playing football with Hershel Walker.  He enjoyed singing Kareoke with his Twilight family, playing the guitar, fishing, playing with his dogs, but most of all, spending time with his grandkids.  He will be remembered for being strong, but gentile , following the teachings of his Heavenly Father, and taking pride in every aspect of his life.

Survivors include wife, Teresa Ann Atkinson; son Dennis James Atkinson, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Kimberly;  granddaughters, Shealynn Marie and Amberie Haze; daughter, Christina Denise Atkinson; son-in-law, Dallas Lee Henderson; daughter, Amanda Marie Kuntz; son-in-law, John Kuntz; son, Timothy James Ruff II; father, Theodore James Atkinson; brothers, Stevon Atkinson (Vicky), and Tomme Atkinson; sisters, Tabatha A. Bolton and Robina A. Ruff; several nieces, nephews, which include, Kenneth Hobbs, Theodore Hobbs, Jo-Anne Hobbs and Randy Bolton, Jr. (deceased 10/2020) and cousins by the dozens.

The visitation will be on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the funeral home.  The funeral will follow at 12 noon in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Lower Black Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the donor's choice in his memory.  Silk flowers are preferred if flowers are sent.
