Derek "D.J." Petrie, 32, of Eden, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta.

Derek served his country in the United States Army and was a recepient of the Purple Heart.  He was the co-owner/operator of RLL Trucking.  He loved semi-trucks, was a good musician, and an exceptional drummer.  He will be remembered as being a lover of all human beings.

Survivors include his fiancé, Regan Lawson; children, Avaehya Julianna Petrie, Dallas Joseph Petrie, and Scarllette Madison Petrie; father, Joe Petrie; brother, Austin Petrie; grandmother, Carolyn Petrie, as well as a large number of friends.

The memorial service to honor Derek's life will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home – WEST CHATHAM CHAPEL – located at 901 West Highway 80 in Pooler.
