Derrel Clark Kessler
Rincon - Derrel Clark Kessler, 73, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Memorial Health.
The Effingham County native was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church where he previously served on the church council and was a member of the Joy Club. He retired from Union Camp after 42 1/2 years, served as one of Rincon's first Police Officers, and was a former town councilman. He was a member of Rincon Lion's Club, was Grand Marshall of the Lions Club Parade in 2002, and was a avid girls softball coach. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zannie Lee Kessler and Addie Exley Kessler, and brother, Bowman Kessler.
Survivors include his wife, Nell S. Kessler of Rincon; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Chris Rahn of Clyo, and Lisa and Mark Noegel of Cheyenne, WY; son, Chris Kessler of Rincon; sister, Isabelle K. Shearouse of Thunderbolt; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Joan Kessler of Springfield; 5 grandchildren, Carrie Rahn, Logan Noegel, Will, Hunter, and Skyler Kessler; sisters and brothers-in-law, J.P. and Geneice Millbrandt of Rincon, James and Lillie Boatright of Waycross, and Johnny and Vesta Steedley of Manor; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Lutheran Church.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
