Derryl Samuel Moody
Rincon – Derryl Samuel Moody, 74, passed away July 1, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glennville, GA to the late Wilbur Moody and Annie Lou Paul Moody Thompson (J.W.), he enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17 in 1961. He served in Vietnam, was a Green Beret, served in the U.S. Army Reserves, and after 17 years of service in active duty and reserves, achieved the rank of Captain. He began a long and prosperous career as a road construction superintendent and retired in 2009.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Kay Durrence Moody.
Survivors include his children, Marty Moody of Pembroke, Marla Dyson of Rincon, Michael Moody (Cheryl) of Statesboro, Laine Bragg (Chris) of Rincon; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Willie Joe Moody (Sandy) of Syracuse, Missouri; special aunt, Jesalyn Weitman of Glennville; loving caregiver, Brenda Denmark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Glennville.
