Springfield – Dewey W. Sikes, 79, passed away April 10, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

The Effingham County native was a graduate of Carlisle Military School, a retired US Navy Vietnam veteran and had retired from the 165 ^th Georgia Air National Guard as a fireman. He was a lifelong member of the Historical Effingham Society.  Dewey loved playing golf and collecting things. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Janie Sikes; and his brother, Candler Weaver.

Survivors include his brother, Mac Weaver; sister, Miriam Jordan; a niece, Belinda Weaver Hodges; nephews, Mark Weaver (Kim), Timothy Weaver, and Alan Jordan; his longtime friend, Beth Howard; and many other relatives.

Visitation: 5 – 6:30 pm Wednesday, April 12, 2023 in the funeral home.

Funeral: 10 am Thursday, April 13, 2023 in the funeral home chapel.

Interment: Bonaventure Cemetery

Remembrances: Historical Effingham Society or Fellowship Bible Church.
