Obituary

Pooler-Mr. Don Edward Taylor, 79, husband of Lillian Louise Taylor, died early Monday, October 20, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Taylor was born on November 10, 1934 in Nichols, Georgia to the late Emory Taylor and Mozelle Hutcheson. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Bloomingdale. Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the United States Army, having served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of several medals including two purple hearts. After retiring from the United States Army where he served for twenty-five years, Mr. Taylor owned and operated his own restaurant repair and maintenance business. He also owned and operated Fantasy World Day Care in Garden City along with his wife. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Rittie Taylor, and the man that he knew as his father most of his life, Oliver Hutcheson.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian "Louise" Taylor of Pooler; his two sons, Don E. Taylor, Jr. and his wife, Jackie of Pooler and Lee Taylor and his wife, Jill of Savannah; his daughter, Venus Taylor of Bloomingdale; five grandchildren, Jessica Adkins and her husband, Brian, Becki Hudgins and her husband, Justin, Scotti Gerrald, and her husband, Nic, and Jimmy Burnsed and his wife, McKenzie all of Pooler and Rachel Slovak of Bloomingdale; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Peacock and her husband, Kenny of Alma, Diane Taylor and her husband, Stevie of Alma, and Billie Helen Wilson and her husband, Ronald of Lake City, Florida; a brother, William Taylor and his wife, Eleanor of Brookings, South Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 1 o'clock Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
