Springfield – Donald R. Jones, 99, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at his home.

The Savannah native was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran who received a commendation from the Secretary of Navy for Heroic Conduct for service on D-Day making six trips to Omaha Beach. He had the distinction of having been on two ships that were both sunk on the same day. He was a retired truck driver and had also retired from Sea Pines. He loved to fish and spend time with his family.

Survivors include his son, Ronnie Jones (Paulina); grandsons, Donnie Jones (Lauren) and Timothy; loving niece and caretaker, Kathy Waddell; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service: 1 pm Friday, January 14, 2022 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
