Obituary

Donald (Don) A. Lindner was born on June 8th, 1957 in Savannah, GA. He died peacefully in his home on the morning of Saturday, May 17th, 2025. Don was 67 years old.

Don was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and friend, known for his quick wit, sharp sarcasm, and unwavering devotion to his family. He loved fishing with his father, watching the Atlanta Braves, and cooking boiled peanuts. Don was incredibly talented—he could fix just about anything and enjoyed solving problems of all kinds.

He was married to the love of his life, Caroline Lindner, for over 40 years. They met in January 1984 through mutual friends. Don was persistent—he showed up at Caroline's office for a lunch date, and their relationship quickly grew. They married on September 15, 1984. Together, they raised two children, Caitlin and Harrison Lindner, of whom Don was immensely proud.

Don was especially close to his parents and, in their later years, he and Caroline cared for them through his mother's battle with Alzheimer's and his father's fight with lung cancer.

After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate from the University of Georgia, Don moved to Savannah in 1983 and began his career at the Chatham County Tax Assessor's Office. He soon transitioned into real estate, earning his license in 1985 while working under Brian Considine. Don later partnered with Charles "Lee" Stewart, III to form Stewart/Lindner & Associates in 1994. Starting in 2000 Don partnered with Roy Smithburg of First City Investors to sell real estate. In 2003, Don and his business partner Timothy (Tim) Wilson founded Coastal Realty Consultants, LLC and Coastal Realty Investors, LLC.

Don had over 40 years of experience in the real estate industry and was the definition of integrity. His experience included: commercial real estate valuation, development consulting, sales and leasing. He was a licensed certified general appraiser and real estate agent in the state of Georgia, a member of the Savannah / Hilton Head Realtors Commercial Alliance and held the MAl appraisal designation as a member of the Appraisal Institute. Don was the past president of the Savannah Area Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and served on their board of directors. As a realtor he participated in numerous hotel and large land tract sales. His clients included major banks, developers, attorneys, architectural firms, governmental entities, and individual real estate owners.

Throughout his career Don made many lifelong friends he still has to this day. His door was always open and he selflessly volunteered his time to mentor anyone who asked for help about an appraisal problem or life in general. Don always dreamed of developing his own building and putting his mark on downtown Savannah. In 2025, he completed his goal with the project at 501 East Bay Street.

He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Jan E. Lindner; his father, W.H. (Bill) Lindner, Jr.; his mother, Jane South Lindner; and his grandparents, W.H. Lindner Sr. and Jessie Meitzler Lindner, and Laverne South Sr. and Louise South.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline N. Lindner; his children, Caitlin Lindner (Preston) and Harrison Lindner (Claire); his siblings, Bill Lindner and Donna Almquist (Brian); his nieces and nephews, John Lindner (Ellie), Scott Lindner (Anna), Ryan Lindner, Addison Moore (Shawn), Mandi Harner (Will), Justin Harvey, and Zach Norrington; extended family, Jackie Harvey (Michael), Rev. Gerald Norrington (Shirley), and Loriann Sancomb (Bill); great-nieces and great-nephews; and his business partners, Timothy (Tim) Wilson and Comer Morrison.
