Obituary

Pooler-Command Sgt. Maj. (Retired) Donald D. Shamblin died peacefully at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah surrounded by his loving family on 5 May, 2016.
Don loved to listen to classic country music and drink cold beer with his family and friends. He was a soldier, Airborne Infantry for 28 years, veteran of Vietnam, and enjoyed attending reunions with his comerads and fellow veterans. Don was employed by the Paper Clip Office Supply Company over 20 years. He was born in Big Stick, West Virginia, on June 21, 1943. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Shamblin; mother, Lilly Maude Jones Shamblin, and four siblings.
He is survived his loving family, wife of 15 years, Carol Shamblin; three step-children; brothers, John & Carol Shamblin, and Garland (Lou) Shamblin; sisters, Gail & Lanny Kelso, and Delores Venable; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee & Angela LeMay, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Monday in the chapel of the funeral home. Graveside funeral and burial will follow at 1 p.m at Beaufort National Cemetery located at 1601 Boundary Street in Beaufort, SC.
