Pooler-Mrs. Dorothy Jones Pierce, 82, died at her residence on Saturday, January 19, 2008, while surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Pierce, the daughter of Doc and Semme Jones, was born and raised in Doerun, Georgia, and had lived the majority of her adult life in Pooler. She enjoyed educating children, and spent many years as a kindergarten teacher at The Little Red Schoolhouse in Pooler and a 1st grade teacher at Pooler School. She was a very active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Pooler where she served as choir leader, pianist, organist and children's Sunday school teacher.
Dot is survived by her husband of 60 years, Mack T. Pierce, Sr.; two sons, Mack T. Jr. and Myra Pierce, Robert W. and Darlene Pierce; five grandchildren, Kelly and Raoul Calimlim, Stacy Pierce, Breanna Pierce and Brice Pierce; and two great-granddaughters, Isabel Calimlim and Abigail Calimlim.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Georgia Mae Wilson, Rhonda Anderson and Betty Seay who so lovingly cared for her during her battle with lung disease and to all of the other caregivers from Odyssey Hospice who made her final days comfortable.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler with interment to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery on Dean Forest Road.
