Dorothy Louise Smith
Port Wentworth - Dorothy Louise Smith, 89, went home to be with her Lord Jesus and reunite with her beloved husband, Ham, on Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
She was born in Grays, SC, September 17, 1925. She was a member of Bonneybridge Baptist Church since 1967 where she taught Sunday School and Training Union, led the Women's Missionary Union, served in the nursery, and also taught Sunday School at Westview Nursing and Rehab. During her retirement years she volunteered at The Baptist Center and Senior Citizens' Meals on Wheels. She was retired from Kaiser Agricultural Chemical. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hamilton Smith, parents, Ray M. and Marie T. Smith, sisters, Hazel Rivers, Josie Winn, and Mary Fussell.
She is survived by her sons Ronald H. Smith (Loy) and Eddie H. Smith (Linda), daughter Pamela L. Sanders (David), sister Honorie Beverly, Ruffin, SC, brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Mary Ann Smith, Grays, SC, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frederick and Joyce Smith, Steve and Faye Smith, Arlene Smith, and W.E. Smith; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, who lovingly called her Polka Dot, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to especially thank her daughter-in-law, Linda Smith, and the staff of Westview Nursing & Rehab for the wonderful care they provided in the last few years.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Smith, Larry Mansfield, Roger Smith, Kevin Peek,
J. Wood and Allen Godbee.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 14, at 11:00 AM at Bonneybridge Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Hall officiating. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 AM at the church.
Graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM at Nixville Cemetery, 3915 Two Sisters Ferry Rd., Estill, SC 29918. Rev. Steve Smith (Grandson) will officiate.
