Dorothy Marie Smith, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Grays, SC on September 20, 2023.

She was born at home on December 6, 1943, in Springfield, Ga. and was the daughter of Joseph William and Gussie Lee Crosby.

Dorothy worked a large part of her life with the K-Mart and 7-11 corporations until she became a homemaker. Her love of genealogy led her to be a proud member of the United Daughters of Confederacy Bratton-Jenkins Chapter 1782. This was shared along with her husband, Herman, as a member of USC.

Dorothy was a devoted mother to her two children, Teresa, and Tracie. At her death, she was a grandmother of four, and a great-grandmother of ten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, youngest daughter Tracie, and all siblings.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel with interment immediately following. Visitation with the family will take place an hour prior to the service.
