Rincon- Dorothy C. Zipperer, 86, died Monday, May 7, 2012 at Candler Hospital.
The Savannah native was a member of Bible Lutheran Church and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a Pink Lady for the Ladies Auxiliary at Effingham Hospital. She loved her family, her cats and flowers. Another of her loves was sewing and knitting for others. She had knitted 209 hats for international seafarers to take to colder places after they visited Savannah, had crocheted 83 framed crosses for new members and baptisms at the church, and had been the costume designer for the first Effingham County Last Supper Performance.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Luke, two brothers, James A. and Roy Von Dolteren, and a nephew Paul Christopher Clayton, Jr.
Survivors include her son, LaMon Zipperer of Rincon; two brothers, Charles Von Dolteren of California and James Anthony Von Dolteren, Jr. of Statesboro; a sister, Ida Uldine Von Dolteren Clayton of Statesboro; four special nieces, Jan Clayton of Statesboro, Linda (Frank) Wynn of Brooklet, Susan (Kim) Loney of Willard, OH, and Patrica (Larry) Groover of Springfield; special friends, Clyde and Vivian Alley, Annie Oglesby, and Leah Bollinger; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation: 10:30 am- 12 Noon Saturday, May 12, 2012 in the funeral home
Funeral: 12 noon Saturday, May 12, 2012 in the Chapel.
Interment: Rincon Cemetery
