Bloomingdale-Mr. Earl L. Conaway, Sr., 67, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011
at his home.
Mr. Earl was born in Savannah to the late Earl L. & Inez T. Conaway. He served his
country in the U.S. Army, 101st and 82nd Airborne Division, serving in Vietnam from
1964 - 1967. He retired from Smith and Kelly Shipping Company and he loved riding his
Harley Davidson and racing.
Survivors include his children, Betty J. Edwards and her husband, James F. Edwards of
Midway and Earl Lewis Conaway, Jr. and his wife, Janet Conaway of Bloomingdale;
step-son, Ira Smith and his wife Angela of Savannah; grandchildren, Jessica Silvers
(deceased), Phillip J. DeLoach, Nicholas O. DeLoach and his wife, Alyssa, Crystal L.
DeLoach and Alyssa B. Conaway; step-grandchildren, Joshua, Gary, Brian, Douglas,
Travis and Brittany Smith; great-grandchildren, Trent Selph, Emily Brumley, Adan J.
DeLoach, Serenity DeLoach and Braylin DeLoach; sisters, Linda Gaines of Charleston,
SC and Diane Fife of Savannah and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Westside Christian Church, located on Hwy 80 in
Bloomingdale. Burial will follow at Douglas Cemetery on Conaway Road in
Bloomingdale with military honors.
