Mr. Ed Rivers Edenfield, 86, of Pembroke, Georgia and formerly of Faulkville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Memorial Hospital.
Ed was born in Oak Park, Georgia, to the late Perry Edenfield and Sallie Strange Edenfield. He was an active member of Powers Baptist Church and a former deacon and member of the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale for 35 years. He retired from CSX Railroad after 42 years. He was a member of the Richard T. Turner Masonic Lodge #116 F.&A.M. and served as a Shriner for Shriner's International. Ed was fortunate to enjoy a long retirement that included two RV cross county trips to Alaska with his wife, Louise. His favorite pastimes were fishing, spending his summers at Clarks Hill, watching Atlanta Braves games, and watching NASCAR races. Ed will be missed dearly by his family. He always put their needs first, and he showed his love through acts of service.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Louise Herndon Edenfield, their children; Talbert Edenfield (Roni), Sally Edenfield Saunders (David), and Ed's children; Eddie Edenfield (Denise), Michael Edenfield (deceased), and Felicia; grandchildren; Aaron Fowler (Vince), Amelia Edenfield Senecal (Jordan), Jordan Saunders (Zac), Regan Saunders, Shaun Edenfield (Heather), Casey Edenfield, and Matthew Edenfield (Jessica); several great-grandchildren; Hudson Senecal, Jaxson Tomberlin, Grason Tomberlin, Mayle Edenfield, Kenzle Edenfield, KarleAnn Edenfield, Bryce Edenfield, and Breanna Edenfield; one great great-grandchild; Brodie Edenfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.
The visitation will be on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral to honor Ed's life will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Albert Hodges officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Shriners Hospital for Children.
