Obituary

Mrs. Edith S. Meyer, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Legacy at Savannah Quarters.

She is going to be missed by her family whom she loved so much, including her children, Brenda Peacock (Dr. Robert), Glenn Meyer (Cathy), Greg Meyer (Darlene), Terri Lewis (Robert), and Phil Meyer (Alicia);  Edith was a "Diva" to her grandchildren, Jennifer Wells (Wayne), Jessica Farmer (Brad), Janet Jeffcoat (Matt), Clayton Louden (Yovanna), Joshua Meyer (Kimberly), Jeremy Meyer, Jared Meyer (Cassie), Ashley Morris (Art), Aaron Meyer (Kellie), Austin Meyer, Amy Rios (Sebastian), Tucker Lewis, Chris Meyer (Heather), Christin Swartz, Morgan Hanna, and Lynsey Meyer; great-grandchildren, Jacob Wells (Hanna), Thomas Wells (Kenzy), Ben Farmer, Sadie Farmer, Kaylee Jeffcoat, Mady Jeffcoat, Issac Meyer, Judah Meyer, Norah Meyer, Calla Grace Meyer, Mason Morris, Madelyn Morris, Logan Meyer, Evie Meyer Natalie Meyer, Evie Meyer, James Meyer, Marcus Meyer, Mason Meyer, Zoe Meyer, Paisley Swartz, Gemma Swartz, Scott Swartz, Edith Hanna, and Ruby Hanna; sisters, Bernice James (Jesse-deceased), Lois Morrell (Ken), and Patricia Wilson, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Edith was born in Ellabell, Georgia and lived in Savannah, Georgia for many years.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, George Meyer; daughter, Deborah Kaye Louden; parents, George William Smith and Indie Todd Smith; brothers, John Rufus Smith, George William Smith, Jr., Roy Smith, and Michael Smith.  She was the oldest member of Southwest Baptist Church.  Known as a hard worker, she retired from Anthony Crane Rental and later worked at Belk's for five years.  She never met a stranger and enjoyed listening to the older music on records.  She will be remembered for being sweet and sassy, a giving person, and for loving her family.

The visitation will be on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Southwest Baptist Church located at 831 Little Neck Road in Savannah.  The funeral to honor Edith's life will follow at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church.  Burial will follow at Ash Branch Primitive Baptist Church.  Edith's son-in-law, Dr. Robert Peacock will officiate.  The active pallbearers will be Wayne Wells, Matt Jeffcoat, Robert Lewis, Greg Meyer, Ben Farmer, Jacob Wells, Thomas Wells, and Brad Farmer.  The honorary pallbearers will be Edith's grandsons; Clayton Louden, Joshua Meyer, Jeremy Meyer, Jared Meyer, Aaron Meyer, Austin Meyer, Tucker Lewis, and Chris Meyer.
