Obituary

Mrs. Edith "Tonsie" Partain, 77, of Port Wentworth, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

She was born in Hampton, SC to the late James Walter Freeman and Dorothy Williams Freeman.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Partain, Sr.  She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and was employed for many years at Quality Machine.  She was a planner, enjoyed crafting, helping people, cake decorating, but most of all, loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Deborah Partain Altman (Tommy), James Harold Partain, Jr., Karen Denise Partain, Stacy Lee Partain, and Shelley Partain Hedrick; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Leatrice Freeman, Chylene Wallace, Hilia Freeman, and Vivian McAdams, and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation and viewing will be on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.  All CDC and social distancing guidelines will be in place, including the mandatory wearing of masks (Chatham County Mandate).  The graveside funeral and burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Westside Memorial Gardens on Adams Road in Bloomingdale.
