Clyo-Mr.Edward J. Davis "Big Eddie", passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Big Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Harold O. Davis, and a brother, Lamar Davis. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS John F. Kennedy where he was a plank owner when the aircraft carrier was commissioned in 1967. He retired from CSX Railroad, was a member of the American Legion Hall # 209, was a member of the Clyo Breakfast Club, and Hunt Master of the Runs Creek Hunting Club. He was an avid outdoorsman but the thing that he loved to do most of all was spend time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marcia M. Davis; children, Angie & Billy Hitchens, Eddie Davis, Jr., Alicia & Luke Gibbs; grandchildren, Gracen & Will Hitchens, Aleigh, Lainey, and Brantley Gibbs; mother, Grace Davis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Odell Davis, Dennis & Joan Davis, and Paul & Sherrie Davis, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 3 until 4 p.m. on Saturday with the funeral to follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home located at 2460 Hwy. 21 S., Rincon, GA. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Clyo.
