Springfield – Mr. Edward L. Hodges, 76, passed away January 29, 2016 at his residence.
The Effingham County native retired from International Paper and the Effingham County Road Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was preceded in death by his father, James Lester Hodges; father-in-law, Lamar E. Joiner, Sr.; father-in-law, Sam L. Cochran, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Joiner Hodges; daughters, Pamela (Tommy) Ratliff and Melissa (Shawn) Corbitt; grandchildren, Ashley Marie (Lance) Goins, Joshua Thomas Ratliff, Nicholas Edward Hodges, and Kristian Pamela Ratliff; his mother, Mrs. Lois Hodges; sisters, Jane Miller and Joyce (Carl) Bowers; brother, Robert (Karen) Hodges all of Springfield; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Vivian Cochran of Sylvania; brother-in-law, Buddy (Harriette) Joiner of Hawthorne, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel.
Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
