Edward R. "Eddie" Sweat, Sr.
Rincon- Edward R. "Eddie" Sweat, Sr., 70, died February 17, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
The Waycross native had retired from Alko Distributors and Rincon Enterprises. He was a 15+ year cancer survivor. Eddie loved hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and keeping his grandchildren. He had been a member of Pipemakers Hunting club, where he had served as President for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. "Jake Sweat, Sr. and Mary Jane Patterson Sweat; and his son, Eddie Sweat, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Linda Thornton Sweat; two daughters, Lisa S. Shurling (Durell) and Dee Dee S. Pearce (Mike Sapp); son, Doug Sweat, Sr. (Tracy); ten grandchildren, Jenalee S. Smith, Jessica Shurling, Stephen Padgett, Sr., Corey Swain, Dori Sweat, Jake Sweat, Bradley Salyer, Mike, Tyler, and Stephanie Pickerell; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Stephen Padgett, Jr., Clinton Wood, Jacob Pevey, and Breanna Edwards; brother, Johnny Sweat, Jr.; mother-in-law, Fay V. Thornton; brothers-in-law, Buddy (Sandra) and Charlie (Wendy) Thornton; plus many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation: 6-7 pm Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in the funeral home.
Memorial Service: 7 pm Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in the funeral home chapel.
