Elder James Lindy Webb, Jr., age 74, died Friday, May 15, 2026, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. A Chatham County native, he had lived in Garden City for many years, and Guyton for the past several years. He was a retired firefighter with the Savannah Fire Department and the Union Camp Fire Department. He had also served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT/Cardiac Technician with Garden City Fire Department.

He was a charter member of Garden City Primitive Baptist Church and was later ordained as a Primitive Baptist minister by Sardis Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as pastor for 10 years. He was a supply minister for Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Antioch Primitive Baptist Church, and Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church. He also served on the Primitive Baptist Bible Study Literary Committee as a writer, editor, and co-chair. He was a member of the King’s Construction Crew, where he worked to build, repair, remodel, and expand Primitive Baptist Church buildings in the Southeast.

Elder Webb had a wonderful sense of humor, and his friends enjoyed fellowship with him. He always enjoyed animals and birds, and especially Homing Pigeons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elder Lindy Webb, Sr. and Frances Yarbrough Webb; his daughter, Shandy Renee Webb; and a brother, Ricky Wayne Webb.

Surviving are his wife, Amanda Sims Webb of Guyton; his loving son and daughter-in-love, Trey and Karan Webb of Guyton; his grandchildren, with whom he had a loving relationship, adoring them with all his heart, Ian and Bella Webb of Guyton; his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and James Ray of Guyton; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Karla Webb of New Jersey, and Elder Ronny and Marie Webb of Guyton; a brother from another mother, and his wife, Dennis and Pat Brannen (according to Brother Lindy, questions can be answered later!)

The visitation will be on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  The funeral service to honor Elder Webb's life will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel, with Elder Ronny Webb and Elder Howard Rushing officiating.  A private family committal service will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah.

A special message from Elder Webb: “Not everyone has the chance to do this, but I want to thank my family and friends for the love and support shown me, and then, let’s hear it one more time, LET’S GO TECH!”
