Obituary

Mrs. Eleanor Roan Shurr, 82, resident of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 11, 2022 at  Candler Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Eleanor was born in Columbus, Georgia to the late Harold  Johnson Pate and Gladys Whitley Pate and the first of eight children. She was preceded in death by her first husband,  Robert Wells Roan, to whom she was happily married for 49 years. During this marriage, Eleanor lost her dearly  beloved daughter, Karen Roan Bradley. Eleanor was blessed with love again with her marriage to her late second  husband, Louis Vincent Shurr, with whom she shared a love of golf, music, travel, and zeal for life.

Eleanor retired  from Southbridge as a Regional Realtor and settled in the community that she helped create and cherished. She loved  her Southbridge community, her golf and support groups -- an extension of her family. What a strong, kind, generous,  compassionate, and amazing woman. Eleanor could fill a room with overflowing physical affection for all her family  and friends. Her goal to spread joy to all was apparent in her attending to personal details in each life that she  touched. If there was ever a life well lived, it was most surely Eleanor's. She was the definition of success:  respected and loved by both adults and children. So much love flowed from her, through her and to her. Eleanor's  journey will continue on now, with a perfect set of wings. Because of her love for others, so will her love live on in us. In her last moments, Eleanor's final words spoke true to how she felt and the person she was, "Love you all, Love  you all". Goodbye to a wonderful woman and beautiful soul. She will be dearly missed.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward Johnson Pate, Rebecca Pat Hollingsworth, and Harold Jerome  Pate. Survivors include her son, Robert Scott Roan (Kristine); grandchildren, Jenna Roan Creson (Aaron), Justin  Kyle Bradley (Brittany), and Brandon Jordan Roan; Great-Grandchildren: Rory Scott Roan, Raelynn Belle Creson,  and Knox Kenyon Bradley. Siblings: Susan Pate Schuller, James Richard Pate (Geri), John Michael Pate (Irene), and  Thomas Dean Pate (Rosemary); sisters-in-love, Dayla Pate and Faye Pepper Pate; a number of loving nieces and  nephews; step-sons, Steve Shurr (Carol) and Alan Shurr; step-grandchildren, Alison Shurr Cowdin (Jason), Leah

Shurr Kaylin (Andy), Patrick Stuff, and Chris Shurr; step-great-grandchildren, Naila, Jackson, and Eli; son-in-love,  Scott Bradley (Teresa); grandson-in-love, Davis Scott Bradley.

Eleanor's wishes were to be cremated. Service will be held at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church at 429  Abercorn St., Savannah, Georgia, 31401, on February 25, 2022 at 2 pm. The service will be live-streamed and can be  found by searching on YouTube for Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Eleanor's honor, to Wesley Monumental Methodist Church, and/or Southbridge Golf  Club for female collegiate golf scholarships - to carry on the game Eleanor loved so much.
