PORT WENTWORTH – Mrs. Eleanor H. Stanhope, 80, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012.
Mrs. Stanhope was a 1950 graduate of Savannah High School. She worked for the Board of Education as a bus driver for over 20 years and she was a member the Eastern Star and Port Wentworth United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. And Mrs. B.F. Hindman, Sr.; husband, Lloyd E. Stanhope, Sr.; brother, Benjamin Hindman, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sandra L. Stanhope and "Baby".
Survivors include her sons, Ernie Stanhope, Jr. (Debra), Frank Stanhope (Karen), David W. Stanhope, Sr. (Rose), James R. Stanhope (Shannon) and Paul C. Stanhope (Debbie); sixteen grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral to celebrate Mrs. Stanhope's life was held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Port Wentworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Edwards and Rev. Randy Nease officiating. Musice was provided by her son, Ernie Stanhope, Jr. Pallbearers were Ernie Stanhope, III, Dave Stanhope, James Stanhope, Daryl Stanhope, Dennis Stanhope and Scott Knight. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
