Port Wentworth-Mrs. Elizabeth "Liz" A. Ownbey, 73, died on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mrs. Elizabeth was born in Stillmore, GA on February 4, 1938 to the late Bluford Amerson & Lillie May Collins Amerson. Elizabeth lived in Port Wentworth 43 years and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was the recipient of the Gatland Award and a member of the Stitch & Chat Ladies Club at Our Lady of Lourdes. She enjoyed making crafts, sewing and making dolls.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James "Jerry" Ownbey; two sons, John T. Adams (Shada) and Stephen Adams (Debra); daughter, Deborah Anliker (David); grandchildren, Karen Ortt (Dale), Thomas Adams, Tina Parrish (Ashley), Daniel Adams and Kaylie Adams; great-grandchildren, Jordan & Tristan Parrish; sister, Lillian Kader (Larry) and a brother, Willie Amerson (Brenda).
The rosary will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home with visitation to follow.
The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church located at 501 South Coastal Highway in Port Wentworth.
The graveside committal and burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery located at 1336 Dean Forest Road in Garden City.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that remembrances be given to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 501 South Coastal Highway, Port Wentworth, GA 31407.
