Mrs. Elizabeth Cawthon Barnes, 97, of Pooler, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Hospice Savannah.
She was born in Green County, GA to the late Willis Harold & Mary Johnson Cawthon and was also preceded in death by her husband, William Dewart Barnes and sister, Jeanette Cawthon. She was a member of Trinity UMC in Pooler where she attended the Gleaners Sunday School Class, had served as Communion Stewardess, served on the Administrative Board, the Bereavement Committee and the Building Committee. She was a former president of the Arrangers Club, volunteered at the Crossroads Chamber of Commerce for 3 years and was one of the founding members of the Pooler Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Yvonne & Mickey Garfield and Keith & Jacqueline Barnes; grandchildren, Julie, Arlene, Kim and Wes; great-grandchildren, Amber, Jennifer, Heather, Gary and Cory; 11 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
