Obituary

Savannah-Mrs. Elizabeth Morris Jones, 70, died Monday, April 12, 2010, after a 17 year
long battle with breast cancer. Beth was a woman with a faith in Christ that was apparent
throughout every aspect of her life. She never met a stranger, loved her family and lived
each day with the conviction that her purpose was to serve God through her Church and
family.

Beth was born in Savannah, GA, raised in Meldrim, GA, and lived in Pooler, GA, for 30
years before moving to Whitemarsh Island, Savannah, GA, 8 years ago. She was a
homemaker and along with her husband was the co-founder of Jones Red & White
Supermarket in Savannah, GA. She felt her greatest accomplishments were her home,
children, grandchildren and her Church. She was an active member of Rothwell Baptist
Church in Pooler, GA, where she was the director of the Vacation Bible School Program,
a member of the Choir, Church Clerk and was a member of and taught the Dot Bacon
Sunday School Class for many years. She was instrumental in implementing the
Rothwell Baptist Church "Mission House" program. Beth was also involved with the
Meals on Wheels program. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Winifred
Morris and brother, John N. Morris.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 51 years, James Edwin (Edd) Jones, daughter,
Catherine Royal (Michael), son, Michael Jones (Vanessa), daughter, Rebecca Schmidt
(Richard) and son, Mitchell Jones (Terri). Ten grandchildren, Clay Royal, Matthew
Royal John Taylor (JT) Royal, Ashley Jones, Drew Jones, Austin Jones, Eric Schmidt
and Emily Schmidt ,Christopher Jones and Thomas Jones, also a brother, James W.
(Jimmy) Morris of Meldrim and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and a son,
daughter and grandsons of her heart, Chris, Lisa, Michael and Cory Gay.

The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral to celebrate Mrs. Beth's life will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Rothwell Baptist Church with Rev. Devin Bell and Rev. Travis Cowart officiating. Mrs. Beth will lie in state from 10-11 a.m. at the Church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery on Oconee Avenue in Meldrim.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Rothwell Baptist
