Rincon - Elizabeth Fisher Stodghill Gay, 92, passed away October 25, 2021 at The Retreat at Canton.

The Alabama native was a Nurse during WWII, was a foster parent from 1957 to 1975 having 54 foster children, and from 1978 to 1996 worked in security at the Savannah Airport.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas Newton "Newt" Fisher and Delia Lee Austin Fisher; step-mother, Bessie Holt Fisher; 1 ^st husband, Earl Stodghill; husband, Curtis W. Gay; son, Leslie Stodghill; step-children, Bobby Gay and Mildred Monroe; sister, Betty Jo Graham Howard; daughter-in-law, Glenda Stodghill.

Survivors include her children, Michael Stodghill, Dennis Stodghill (Joyce), George Gay, and Pamela G. Allen; grandchildren, Michelle Stodghill, Misty Stodghill, Bubba Stodghill, Rusty Stodghill, Jeffery Stodghill, Jeremy Stodghill, Melanie Stodghill, Brandon Stodghill, Kevin Gay, and Emily Borth; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Hayes; brother, John Fisher, Jr.; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Turner and Van Gay.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
