Obituary

Bloomingdale-Mrs. Elma L. Lightsey Long Smith, 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at her home under Hospice Home Health Care Services.
Mrs. Elma was born in Bloomingdale to the late Claude & Nellie Mae Lightsey. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Reppard Long, her second husband, William L. Smith and her son, Thomas Edward Long, Sr. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale where she attended the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She retired from Union Camp and enjoyed traveling, gardening and her flowers.
She was recognized by the Bloomingdale Historic Society as Honorary Citizen of the Year in 2010 for being the oldest living original resident of Bloomingdale. In her later years she enjoyed her lunchtime at local restaurants.
Survivors include her daughter, Helen Uldean Long Hope of Memphis, TN; daughter-in-law, Beverly P. Long of Faulkville; grandchildren, Andy (Tina) Hope, Danny (Debbie) Hope, Tommy (Tricia) Long, Kim (Greg) Johnson and Donna Kirk; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Eva Wendelken of Rincon; several nieces and nephews and the angels sent to be her caregivers, Lisa Robinson, Diane Norris, Christa Gay, Sandra Cook and Ann Trull.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale located at 10 Moore Street. Burial will follow at Westside Memorial Gardens.
