Mrs. Elsie B. Whaley, 97, of Pooler, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 1, 2021.

She was born in Savannah to the late Ephraim M. Beery & Bessie Kersh Beery.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. George W. Whaley, Jr., three sisters and a granddaughter.  She had worked as an LPN at Candler Telfair Hospital and was a diehard Atlanta Braves fan.  She was saved in 1964 and was a member of Effingham Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Bazemore (Dennis) of Jacksonville, FL, Elaine Moreland of Guyton, Kathy Wimpey of Pickens, SC, and Mary Beth Lietz of Pooler; 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 in the chapel of the funeral home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021 in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery.  Pastor Tom Davis will officiate the service and Mrs. Elsie's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

All CDC and social distancing guidelines will be in place including the wearing of masks (Chatham County Mandate).
