Obituary
Emily Gould Leigh, age 99, passed away with family on Tuesday July 10, 2018 in St. Augustine Florida. She was born Lila Emily Gould, November 5, 1918 in Savannah Ga. She was the youngest of the two surviving five children of parent Herbert Clinton Gould II and Minnie Joe Taylor Gould. Her education extended through graduation with an Accounting Degree at Armstrong College in Savannah. After graduation she was employed by the American Optical Company as a payroll account manager, responsible for preparing weekly pay for employees, a highly responsible and exacting task, requiring a keen aptitude for mathematics, a talent that served her well in the pursuit of her passionate pastime of playing cards and especially bridge, at which she excelled. She was married to Herbert David Leigh Jr in 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Grace Camille Brooks. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Herbert David Leigh III and Gloria Bonet Leigh, Jo Ellen Carnes and Douglas Wayne Carnes, and Timothy Gould Leigh and Corry Bladow Leigh. She will be remembered for her radiant and outgoing personality, her open hospitality and her enthusiasm for life. She will be missed very much by her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren and all who knew her. Graveside funeral and burial will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Bethel Cemetery on Little Neck Road in Chatham county.
