Ernest Carpenter Nease
Springfield – Ernest Carpenter Nease, 76, passed away October 29, 2017 at Effingham Extended Care.
Ernie was born March 13, 1941 in Savannah, GA and attended Groves High School and joined the Georgia National Guard in 1958. He worked many years for the family company "Nease Brothers", then Union Camp, Georgia Pacific, and Howard Sheppard. He was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church. Ernie was an avid gardener and loved to spend time with his grandkids. He loved the outdoors, fishing, farming, and his horses, Miss Brooks and Princess.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde W. Nease, Sr. and mother, Ernestine C. Nease; sister, Melba Nease Clary.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Velma Rahn Nease; daughter, Ranie Harper (Scott) and Beckie Proctor (Mark); 4 grandchildren, Christopher Proctor (Alex), Zachary Pitts (Monica), Alyx Pitts, and Clay Proctor; 4 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mason, Clarie, and Ranie Madison; brother, Clyde "Bubba" Nease, Jr. (Betty Sue); sisters, Nancy Nease Murray (Bobby) and Cheri Nease Spence (Tommy); brother –in-law, Johnny Clary; sister-in-law, Ellen Wiley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel.
Interment will follow in Springfield Cemetery Annex.
