Rev. Erwin Keith "Bubba" Perdue, Sr.
Rincon – Rev. Erwin Keith "Bubba" Perdue Sr., died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Effingham County Hospital.
Born June 13th, 1940 in Swainsboro, Georgia, Keith was preceded in death by his Mother Alice Sumner Perdue and his Father Irvin Perdue. He graduated High school in 1958 from Adrian Highschool, Adrian Georgia.
He worked at Lockhead Martin in Atlanta followed by The Savannah Shipyard and then Quality Machine in Savannah. He opened his first private business, The Pit-Stop Cycle Shop, in 1972. The Pit Stop, a Savannah landmark that outfitted enthusiasts and the Savannah Police Department, thrived until it closed in 1982. He returned to school in 1986 and earned an Associates of Arts Degree from Armstrong Atlantic University. He worked for GA Pacific, Ft Howard Paper Mill for 20 years. In 1988 he opened Perdue Tax Services, for which he maintained a strong clientele until his death.
Keith Perdue also served as the Pastor of Silk Hope, United Methodist Church. He has been the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Ellabell for the last 11 years. Keith was also a 32nd Degree Mason of the Frank F. Baker Lodge, of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Savannah, Georgia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Kay Ashford Perdue and his son Erwin Keith "Sam" Perdue, Jr. (Kimberly) of Atlanta, Georgia, Step Grandson, Joshua Michael Wray of Atlanta, Georgia, his Sister, Janice Perdue Smith (Walter) of Wadley, Georgia, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Wednesday July 13th, 2011 at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel. The Funeral is to be held today, Thursday July 14th, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel with Rev. Roland Dann officiating. The Pallbearers are Jerry Arnsdorff, John Hilliard, Jeff Stafford, Brian Smith, Woody Turner and Jeffrey Smith.
The interment is to follow at 5:00 pm at the City of Swainsboro Cemetery, Swainsboro Georgia.
