Bloomingdale-Mr. Etheridge James "E.J." Bennett, Jr., 59, passed away on Thursday,
February 10, 2011 at his home.
Mr. Bennett was born in Lakeland, GA and raised in Valdosta where he was a 1970
graduate of Lowndes High School. He had been employed with Bearings & Drives, Inc.
and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing
and hunting. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula Bennett and brothers,
Etheridge Dell Bennett and Coy C. Bennett.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Bennett of Bloomingdale; daughter, Amy
Bennett-West of Savannah; father, Etheridge James Bennett, Sr. of Valdosta; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Geneva & Hubert Martin and Sylvia & Dewayne Sellars, all of Conyers;
brother and sister-in-law, Paul & Dot Bennett of Valdosta; mother-in-law and
step-father-in-law, Phyllis & Harry Barrymore of Hahira; brothers-in-law, Layne West of
Valdosta and Thomas West of Hahira; sister-in-law, Lucy West of Hahira and a number
of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at
Greenwich Cemetery with military honors.
