Pooler – Mrs. Evelyn Hopson Haile, 89, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Hospice Savannah.
The Tift County native was a past member and secretary for many years of the First United Methodist Church of Tifton. After moving to Savannah in 1963, she was employed as secretary to the chief of the FAA and to the District Superintendent of the Savannah District of the United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughters and their husbands, Brenda and Danny Strickland of Townsend and Terri and Tommy Strickland of Springfield; her husband, James C. Haile of Savannah; three stepsons, Jesse (Jeanne), Alex (Stephanie), and Mac (Debbie); 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a number of step-grandchildren; and a brother, Jimmy (Brenda) Hopson of Winter Haven, FL.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel, with The Rev. Ned Steele and The Rev. Randy Nease officiating.
Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
